stereo code

trying to find a way to get my code with out having to pay and wait!!!! this is a new purchace and it came without the info. please helppppppppppppppp

Did you pull the radio to see if the code is written on it? Check the trunk? Glove box?

I just wrote mine on the stereo with a Sharpie. Who cares, when I had my Jetta...

They took 3 Blaupunkt stereos that were code protected. They got 2 from my brother on was the removable face plate style, he had the face.
My stereo loss was thanks to my mother, borrowing my car and never setting the alarm - back in the day.

When I worked for the dealer I wrote the code in every car I prepped.

There have to be a few guys still doing that somewhere. I guess it is a bit like hitting the lottery though.

I had the same problem last month. I went to the dealer where the car was originally sold (in 1999!) and they checked their records for the number. Apparently it is normal for the stereo code to be marked down on the inspection sheet for the pre-delivery inspection. The service manager looked it up and even entered the code for me - total cost $0 (Thanks St. James Audi!).

As for the "myth" about it being in the trunk, when I spoke with a customer service guy at Audi Canada (Okay Audi USA may be different but I doubt it) he told me to check for a sticker in the trunk. When I told him it wasn't there he then told me about pre-delivery inspection report.
