Stick or Automatic
anyone with stick regret it ?

You need to think about how and where you drive. If you're in a crowded urban area and have the commute from hell, why subject yourself to a stick?
On the other hand, if your driving is light and breezy and/or sporty, stick is definitely the way to go. However, rent a stick and learn it real good before you subject yourself to your own Audi.
Also, I don't know that I'd recommend the 1.8 Tip. Autos suck power from the engine, so the engine needs it to give.
I think for 2002 audi is coming out with an improved (6 speed!) auto transmission that will be more efficient.
Perhaps some other cars with automatic aren't so bad, but this one is too quick to upshift and too slow to downshift. It will go into 5th gear at about 30 mph if you stop accelerating, but it has no torque at that low RPM. If you try to get around someone, you have to wait for what seems like an eternity for it to make two (very noticeable) downshifts. Same thing happens when trying to accelerate out of a corner.
If you can't test drive a stick, make sure you give the automatic a thorough test drive before you go that route. Tiptronic might be a reasonable compromise. I've never driven one though.
