still starting problems......

1996 2.8Q...when i try to start the car, as soon as the key is turned to the on position the fuel pump relay starts buzzing (loud)..if i try to start the car it will turn over but will not fire.....i replaced the fuel pump relay and i still have the same symptoms....any ideas guys???????

If its still buzzing then you might have a short where the relay goes into.

See if you can take it apart and see if any tabs are touching eachother.

i'd test the fuel pump. i'm not sure how to do that. any codes?

if the pump itself is bad try tapping on the tank with screwdriver handle...

If it starts it verifies that the pump is bad. This works sometimes if the brushes or armature are bad in the pump motor. I've driven a car for two weeks before replacing the pump because it started everytime that I had to hit the tank. It finally stopped working completely.
