strange window problem

strange window problem
well, basically about a month ago my windows quit going up from the key outside the door on my 99 a4 1.8T. What's strange is that they will go down. The phenomenon occurs for passenger side and the drivers side... that is, I can lower the windows from both sides, but neither side will raise them again. Also, my motion sensors stopped working too, but the alarm still works. Any ideas to what this might be or suggestions for trouble shooting would be appreciated.
