Is there a difference?

Hi guys, I'm going to purchase a 1998 A4 2.8 Q soon and was wondering if there was any major differences in the 1998 to 1999 models? I've seen some people post "1998.5 A4" so it made me wonder if there was a change mid-year or something...

If I remember correctly, the major difference is that the 98 had the 172hp version of the 2.8 & the 99 had 190. Someone out there set me straight if I didn't correctly state the years when that change happened.

yah the 98 had 190 hp for the 2.8

I think there was a slight difference...

between the 1998 and 1998.5 A4 2.8Q- so far I've just seen people refer to the stereo being different in the 1998.5... true?

I think 98.5 changed to the 30v 190 HP engine

There were also changes @ 99.5

Mid year changes in 99 added projector beam headlights, a6 door handles, new sunroof mechanics, new integrated compartments in the trunk for tools and cd player, clear side markers, just to name a few. I am sure there were 98.5 changes, such as removing the football Audi logo.
