Default Those of you w/Momo shift *****...

I installed my new Momo "Race Air Leather" shift **** last night but I think it may be a bit "tall". The combined height of stick plus **** seems to be higher than the stock setup. I was hoping for the opposite and am now considering returning it. I'm sure the **** is pressed over the stick as far as possible, too. Anyone else who has an aftermarket ****, especially a Momo one, notice this? What ***** decrease the overall height of combined stick plus ****? Thanks.

Default You can modify some pieces to make it fit better.

I didn't update my site with the additional steps, but here's the lo-down...

http://home.earthlink.net/~palmerj/****/d-boot.jpg shows the white sleeve that I had cut approx 3/4" off the bottom to make it fit better. I also ground down the top lip of the black collar which sits directly below the ****.

Email me if you need more info.

My site

Default Re: Those of you w/Momo shift *****...

Whats up Jeff, when I installed my **** (same one I think) I Had to remove BOTH of the little plastic "anchors" that screw or clip together on the inside and the outside of the shift boot. You know, the reinforcement thingy (for lack of better words) for the boot between the OEM **** and the boot. After that I Pushed down the **** as far as I could. As I tightened the tiny screws, I simultaneously held down the "screw on" collar.
So, I takes a bit of trial and error, at least on my part. Don't return it just yet. It'll work.

Default i dont mind the "extra" height...

i have the "combat yellow/leather" shift ****. actually its more of a shift handle. it sits pretty, and is the perfect height for resting my arm on the armrest and have quick access from the wheel to the shifter. personally, i dont mind the height, but i am going to add the uuc short shift kit to reduce travel so ill have the best of both worlds.

so my final recommendation is, do whats comfortable for your OWN style of driving. screw what we say and do what YOU like.

drive on.

Default It will fit and it will sit lower than stock...more

I installed the same ****, I too had to cut about
3/4"-1" off the white spacer and with a dremmel tool, using the small sanding drum, ground down
the inside of the threaded collar of the **** to fit snugly on the black plastic part of the boot.

It took about 3 tries to get the white plastic
piece to the right height. My guess is that it
sits now about 1.5" lower than stock. I get
compliments on it all the time, it's an awesome
****...

Good luck,

-Shark

Default Or just do a short-shift upgrade...

You''ll lower your shift height and get much more postive shifting action. Both Neuspeed
and UUC do great kits for this. Both retail under $200.

Default Mine seems fine...

I didn't have to cut any off of the black plastic piece either. I just took the black plastic piece off and flipped it over upside down and put it underneath the shift boot and so now if fits up nicely to the base of my MOMO Cobra shift ****.
