Default Time belt problem?

I sent my CPU to APR, and the garage that is doing it for me gave a replacement CPU which was from 2001 A4 1.8t (mine is 2000 A4 1.8t, but on the CPU it says 1999 1/2). Now with the replacement I got the check engine light on, but the car was running fine. Yesterday, I changed my timing belt and the problems started. When the car is idling everything is fine. Even if I bring the RPM all the way up, it is still fine. The problem comes when I start driving it. It behaves like there is no gas-it is cutting constantly, but it is not stalling. When I was changing the timing belt, the batter negative was disconected. My question is-is that a timing belt problem, or the new CPU got reset and that's why I am having that crappy engine cutting?

Default so the car was running fine with the ecu... then you did the timing belt and it doesn't run right?

i'm going to guess it was something you did

any codes?

It's possible you just didn't connect something up correctly. A huge intake leak would do that. Car will start and idle, but once you give it some gas ur fvcked

Yap. When idling and even at 7000 RPM everything is good. The problem starts only when the car is in motion

Default Rule 1 for car repair do one thing at a time.

You probably should have done the timing belt first. Then try to upgrade the ECU.

Default Just becuse you throw a CEL does NOT mean you'd notice the car run any different>

unless it was a vac leak, boost issue, coil, plugs... etc etc

but something as simple as a coolant temp sensor would trigger a CEL but your car would still run fine

you need to pull codes and see why you threw a CEL
