maybe No. Did you use the search function before posting. I thought so too... that is why no one is responsive to your posts. For the 60k maintenance you have to replace water pump, timing belt, tensioner, rollers, etc... Labor can be between 5-7h at a shop. You have to dismount the whole front. If your timing belt is loose, their is a good chance that your valves are flooded and damaged.

Default Agree with don's advice

but lifters could have varnish on them - run a oil detergent to see if that clears up the tapping. Do the timing belt asap

Default I wouldn't drive it

until the belt's been fixed. If it is loose and you know about what the belt should feel like, you may run the risk of jumping a tooth... Another reason so many people are unresponsive is because you don't have your car info in your sig... To better help you , we need to know the year and model of your audi, engine size/3-letter code, mods list, color, and anything else you might like to include (I have yet to create one for my current login, but it's in process). The tech section contains a Timing belt replacement walkthrough. For the V6 engines, I strongly recommend the special tools , which can be bought from zelenda automotive or rented from www.blauparts.com (and I think other companies rent them as well). The only special tool I used was white-out, when I did my A4 1.8T ATW engine.

I give you a lot of credit for getting the TB done sooner- most people procrasinate- look at the post from a few days ago on this.

Use the search function at the top of the forum, and it will save you much time.
