Tip Chip Question

Does the Tip Chip change the auto downshift when going to WOT? I'm tired of the car dropping into 1st, going to to the rev limit and then shifting back to 2nd, when all I was looking for was WOT in 2nd.

because you hit the kick-down shift under the pedal!!!
WOT is the same when you push the pedal until you reach a hard feeling, stop here and you'll stay in 2nd at WOT.
Push more and you'll hit the kick down shift and the tip will engage 1st speed.

Unless you chip your car....

If you chip your car, you can throw all that out the window. Cause WOT is a lot closer than all the way down. Maybe about 3/4 of the way down on the throttle.

First second is tricky, even with Tip Chip

We have a GIAC/PES Tip chip in our Stage 2 Avant and have had the kickdown happen when I didn't want it to (in auto mode)

Try leaving it in manual mode

i heard the kickdown switch does other things like spool down your ac and heating fans, etc.

That's what happens.

I get frustrated with the downshift in AutoX.

It sounds like I'll have to try to punch it a little easier and feel for the switch.

Thanks for the responses. This happens in manual mode, I'm sure it happens in auto too. The AWE web site talks about the tip chip curing "gear hunting", but I guess that's not the same as hitting the "kick-down" switch. Any options for disabling the kick down switch?
