you know I have a 2.8tip
In my experience the tip will automatically downshift,upshift,never die out(like a clutch)
It's not like having to shift the actual gears(even though you can)
it's done really quick.
other than that I can do it on the steeringwheel, the shift ****, or actually change the gears.
if you love best of both worlds it's the way to go.

Well the PHYSICAL action is much easier, just a click forward or back in the special gate, or on the sport wheel a click on the up or down button. Is that what you meant?
As for shift speed, there is still the typical automatic transmission delay. I believe there is a tip chip out there that reduces the delay.
Disclaimer: I don't have my A4, yet. Mine is due to arrive in a few weeks (with tip).
