transmission problems

transmission problems
i have a 1997 a4 all wheel drive 1.8. the original tranmission that came out of it is a DKB which is for a 97-98 but the tranny i put in the car is a DRN which is for 97-01. i was told the only differences was the ratio. is that gonna cause any problems. i swapped the valve body from the DKB to the DRN. what should i do. i dont have the money to spend and Audi is telling me that i have to put $30 quarts of tranny fluid in it. what can be done about all of this

I don't know about the ratios, but $30 quarts would add up fast, especially with an empty torque converter. I have Valvoline Maxlife ATF in three VAG cars in my family, at $4~$5 per quart much more realistic.

Wait, how many quarts do you need? Are you saying ___ quarts at $30 a quart? Or are you saying 30 quarts at $___ a quart. The latter scenario seems impossible but in either case you need to post more info.

I have the same problem with my car. The original transmission was a DRN code and I install a FAS code transmission. I put about 8 bottles of synthetic transmission oil. Now the computer is saying that the transmission is not the correct transmission.
My question is can the computer be reprogram, so it will recognice this transmission.
Right now the car runs but the transmission will not down shift.
