Trip Computer

I was in a hurry to get my 98 A4 and the dealer couldn't find one with a Trip Computer in time. Is it possible to install one? Anyone have any experience with this? Help!

You could install one, but you need a new instrument cluster. This part cost alot ! You should buy it factory install already !!!

Useless gimmick ...

at first I was really upset that my dream car didn't have it, but since all I use in these gizmos is outside temp and you get that any, you aren't missing anything.In fact, I like the fact that the instrument cluster isn't cluttered full of words, numbers and phrases in glowing red.

i hope this is not the only thing holding up your purchase. it's not very useful. t/c in my VW was much better.(n/t)

IMHO...you don't need it if you get the all weather package

I have been around A4s for about 2 years now. I have driven in alot of A4s with and without the trip computer. I can safely state that I don't think it is worth the additional cost. Of course, different strokes for different folks. To me, the gauges display slightly too large of characters...maybe its because I am use to mine.Steve S. 97 2.8QM
