TRUNK still won't open .... what the heck??
<center><img src="http://www.ecarmarketing.com/audi/P8290023.jpg"></center><p>ok guys, I've tried everything except breaking the trunk lid handle and the key, still no luck.
the damn thing just does not open.
-all vaccume locks are working and I hear the one for the trunk as well.
- the key turns very nicely in the lock
- I've turned to the left, to the right, to the center, pushing, pulling, etc. the sucker just doesn't open
- I dropped the rear seats and not sure how I can get to the actual lock in the trunk? everything is covered up. do I need to remove the black plastic molding on the bottom edge of the lid? is there anyway to get to the lock from inside??
this really sucks and I appreciate all the help.

There is an operating rod that goes from the lock cylinder to the latch...
... if everything is working at the lock cylinder. By that I mean that you can open all the doors from the trunk with the key and you can hear the trunk unlock with the key in the drivers door. Then the problem must be at the latch or the connecting rod between the cylinder and the latch has come detached.
To get at this, you'll have to remove the trunk lid trim from the inside and look at the lock cylinder area and the latch.
Since it is alreay broken, you might try holding the trunk latch in while operating the remote locks to see if you can get the connecting rod to re-engage or something.

.... just what the long weekend was made for. everyone should spend and hour of two in the trunk of their Audi, specially down here in Texas, while it's nice and toasty....
