Couldn't hurt...really depends on how patient you are...
but you've gotta wonder why the Passat has a after run coolant pump...yet the A4 does not. The words 10 Years 100,000 mile powertrain warranty come to mind

I prefer having a turbo timer to either of the following scenarios: sitting in the car while I let the turbo cool down; Or not letting the turbo cool down and wondering if I'm damaging it...
And yes, you can have the turbo timer work flawlessly with your factory alarm.
$85 (HKS Turbo Timer) + Installation cost or following the installation FAQ is a small price to pay for convenience and piece of mind IMHO.
