Turbo Timer Recommendations?

Do they need to be installed in the cabin/dashboard area?
If you wire it up according to the FAQ so you can alarm the car and walk away while the timer is counting down, is there a reason why it needs to be mounted in the dashboard? Could it be installed under the hood? My apologies if I'm missing something obvious.

You can probably put in under the hood, but probably wouldn't want to. . .

Most turbo timer have low and high preset settings you can switch between so the countdown can be switched to a longer duration after a more sprited drive. or you can manually increase the duration by a few press of the button by smaller increments. Also, at the gas station, you'd want to be able to turn off the timer manually by hitting the power button so you wouldn't have to wait idling next to the pump 'til the timer stops.
Plus I'm not sure if the units are meant to take the heat under the hood of a turbo engine.<p>James Wu
