UPDATE on need engine help
Started car this am and it would not idle for more than a couple seconds before stalling. Tried again later and it maintained a faily consistant idle (about 900 RPMs), but would not rev past about 1500 RPMs before getting VERY rough and losing power. I tried tapping the ECU as suggested yesterday and nothing changed (chip has been in for a LOOOOOONG--over 70K miles--time anyway). There was a new drip under the car - a clear oily feeling substance with no smell. Any new ideas??? Thanks in advance.

Hmmmmmmmm.......
The fluid sounds like Mineral oil - perhaps power steering fluid.
IS this only happening on idle situations? Maybe try cleaning the idle control valve.
You could also sqish the MAFS in some denatured alcohol to make sure it's clean. (BE VERY CAREFUL - DO NOT TOUCH THE SENSOR AT ALL - I JUST BROKE MINE LAST WEEK AND IT'S A $380 PART TO REPLACE , LUCKILY I SCORED ONE OFF OF A WRECKED A4 FOR $80)
You could check the plugs to make sure they're tight and not fouled.
Other than that, I'm not sure. I'd definitely call Hoppen in the morning. On probably an unrelated note, have you replaced your timing belt yet?

I was wondering about the plugs. The service place I take my car to just put in older model S4 plugs a week or two ago, because one was fouled. I wonder if one or more of those plugs are now fouled.
Timing belt was done around 65K.

Alright, I'll take a crack at it. It sounds like you can't get any fuel. That gives you a rather long list of possibles such as: plugged fuel filter, plugged gas cap pressure relief, kinked lines, fouled injectors, failed fuel rail pressure relief valve, etc.
