Default Update on overheating problem...

I went to bleed air out of the cooling system and nothing came out of the bleeder hole. I'm sure it was exposed enough to let air\coolant out. I tried everything. I turned the car on and had my dad hold up the expansion tank. After it warmed up a little, I turned on the heater on HI. Nothing. Heater again was blowing cold, even when it was @ normal operating temperature. I even tried turning off the heater. At one time, the bleeder hose was taking out a little steam (not from the hole), but still no coolant. What do you guys think on this one? Thermostat I'm guessing. Can anyone explain why nothing is coming from the bleeder hole?

Default Check the upper and lower hoses for heat to see if the t-stat..

is working. There is a valve in that system that may have gone bad. Check to see if there is any warm coolant running through the hoses to the heater core.

Default Does coolant come out of the little hose attached to the reservoir?

If there is none coming out, chances are its a waterpump or thermostat.

Default did anybody mention.... check your viscous coupling on the fan?

the primary belt drive fan. if the coupling is bad the fan doesnt really spin as fast as it should and as a result things dont get cooled that well.

Bad waterpump, OR, a severe blockage/air pocket.

Default The thermostat only prevents coolant from going through the radiator though...

it will not prevent getting a good flow of coolant at the heater hoses..

Default Well, that's the hard part.. You have to get it hot, let the air out.. get it hot, let the air out..

if you pull the heater hose off the barb at the firewall, rev the engine a little, till you get coolant out of the hole. it may take a little time. Did you replace the coolant pump and thermostat at timing belt change?

Default Yes, I changed both & on a side note, I drove the car 30+miles today without any problems...

If it does overheat, its when I push the car a little bit and it happens almost immediately. The Aux Fan is kicking in & the heat was working properly today. Weird.
