Used A4 Engine Differences???

Hi- I'm thinking of purchasing a 96 or 97 A4... a few questions What are the performance differences between the 1.8T and the 2.8 engines? What does a reasonable price look like for one of these?Thanks, Peter

Buy my 97 for $18,000. It is an automatic 1.8 quattro. Mint condition, alpine CD, amp, bass tube. Wett Chip. 56,000 miles.George

There is no turbo model for 1996, it didnt' come out untill 1997. Also, in 1996, the only "sport" option was the steering wheel. In 1997, the "Sport package"came about,including different suspension, tires/rims,steering wheel. The 4-cylinder 1.8T can be upgraded to the same horsepower as the stock 30V 2.8 for about $600. You can't get real leather in the 1.8, only porforated leatherette. (vinyl) That's about all.
