VAG-COM - A/C control module recoding
I got a VAG-COM a couple weeks ago, and I have been messing around with it a bit, and decided to recode the A/C module so I can use recirc w/o the AC compressor on.
I noticed these codes listed on the site www.obdtool.com
1996 (some 6-cyl) 00062 00060
1996 (some 6-cyl) 00162 00160
1997 ~ 1998 (4-cyl) 04142* 04140
1997 ~ 1998 (6-cyl) 04162 04160
1998.5 ~ (4-cyl) 00140 00040
1998.5 ~ (6-cyl) 00160 00060
I saw that my car was coded as 04142*, as noted above that is listed as a 4-cylinder car 1997-98, I have a 6-cylinder and a 99, which I thought was a little odd.
Everything seemed to be working fine all this time and everything seems fine now that I have recoded it for 6-cylinder with recirc.
I was just wondering if something like that could have caused any problems or anything.

You can only use recirc with the A/C compressor on. The recode lets you just turn on recirc without having to turn on A/C.
