VIN

does anyone know how to read this VIN.. i need to know if this car has trac loc .. it's my wife's car...96 grand cherokee\

You can't tell from the VIN (the dealer computer can). Look for the tag or jack up the rear...

The tag is about an inch long and is held on with one of the dif cover bolts. It says to be sure to add the friction modifier. If there is no tag jack up both rear wheels, put the shifter in N and spin one side. If the other side goes the same way you have the trac lok. If it goes the opposite direction your dif is open.
