VW TDI throwing a code...
This is OT, but I figured I'd ask as the code applies to all turbo engines. It is p1550 "Charge Pressure Control Difference". He just had a new turbo put in under 1 year ago, and was told that he needs a new one again (ot of warranty now).
The symptoms are limp mode at ~3000rpm in 3rd/4th gear, basically whenever he boosts. I assume it has a MAP sensor that could be bad, but what else could cause it to read more boost than it is really getting? Could I fool it with a Zener Diode?

If you can rebuild variable turbochargers yes.
At the dealer they don't let us rebuild turbochargers, we replace em. Also, the TDI's turbo is integrated into the exhaust manifold and is removed in one piece with it.
