weird behaviour
I have a problem which I think is related to the car 'thinking' that the passenger side front door is open. When I start up, i get the beep-beep-beep for 1 minute. If I also turn on the lights, I get a constant tone for 20-30 sec, followed by the beeping (if the beeping had not already stopped before I turned on the lights). If I don't turn on the headlights, I get the constant tone (I guess it is the 'your lights are on' warning tone) if I step on the brake pedal (wtf???).
There is a rattle coming from that door which tells me that something in there is loose. If this is entirely mechanical in nature, how hard is it to fix? It doesn't look like I could just pull a fuse, because there doesn't seem to be a fuse which solely controls this annoyance.
Has anyone else ever run into this? is it really just a matter of replacing a switch or tightening up something (that something being the thing which rattles)?
Finally, one more symptom is that if there is *never* any beeping or warning tone, then the problem manifests itself by way of the passenger foot well light never goes off (very annoying when driving at night).
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dan
also, if it is the door latch is the problem, any idea where i might get a new one. ECS only lists that they have the left door latch.
