What to do.....
I placed my order for a 1.8T with Jeff Sikes audi in Huntsville AL after a recommendation from someone off this board. They were about $1200 cheaper than any of the dealers here in Atlanta. Put the $1000 deposit on a credit card and started the wait. I was expecting to get some written kind of receipt or something to say they ordered the car and something about my deposit. Nothing. 6 weeks of stuff like "your car is on schedule" and "your car should be here soon" but nothing in writing. Is that normal? Since the dealer is 5 hours away I have not been to the actual dealership. The whole deal was done over the phone/email.
So I am hesitant to pay this bill when the dealer has given me nothing to actually say he ordered the car. One of the reps finally called me tonight after I told them I was cancelling the order but all he gave me was a recquisition number (what is this good for?) and a date it supposedly entered production (8/10).
Should I insist that something be sent to me in writing overnight (bill is about due) and if it isn't, cancel the order, or is this kind of normal? I'm just a little paranoid since I have never seen the people I'm dealing with.
Thanks and sorry for the length.
I suggest you get some serious info before handing over money. You should be the one with the control here- it's your money.

I ordered my car in Maryland (and for any other car I ever purchased), I received from the dealer a copy of the order form with a detailed itemized list including a price breakdown for each item, the discount from MSRP and a record of my deposit.
Lacking a dealer receipt, your VISA charge is your record of deposit. If you do have problems with the dealer returning your deposit, you can always dispute the charge to VISA, they will usually immediately credit your account debiting the dealer.
It is not unusual for the order/delivery process to take 3 or 4 months.
I thought they only had those two cars plus the white A4. Unless... the APR people also own Audi's as their personal vehicles...
