do they do anything for an automatic? any improvements

Default snub mount is the front engine mount for 1.8L motors.
it will probible make some difference in shift quality for auto.

Default Not just the 1.8, for all engines........
Snub Mount Upgrade replaces the front engine mount on the car. This mount enhances upshifting and downshifting, reduces driveline shock, and helps power transfer by taking up excess drivetrain slack.
