What does this thing do????

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/24295/radio.jpg"></center><p>its like a smalll clear LED.. but it never lights up or anything... my girlfriends Jetta has one next to her power buttton too... does anyone know what it is??

I believe that it blinks red when your car is locked...

in order to show that the alarm is activated. It is meant to deter stereo theives. I could be wrong, but I feel pretty confident.

Nah, mine doesn't blink. I believe it's the light sensor. (??)

It is a light sensor , it controls the intensity of the light on the display
