Default Wind effects?

I was driving across the Yolo County causeway (think a raised 6 line highway, 30 ft above a bunch of rice fields) last night about 3 am. I'd estimate there were about 30 mph winds, coming from due south -- and I was heading due east, so they were pretty much exactly perpindicular to my course of travel. I was getting blown around the lanes like an old VW beattle. The semi trucks were moving a little bit within their own lanes, but I was having to fight my car to keep it in the lane -- much less heading exactly straight. Other cars on the road were being affected, but not as significantly as mine. Specifically, I recall passing a Chevy Corsica and a Ford Taurus -- both were tracking much better than I was.

My tires aren't bald (they are the stock Continentals), and my steering alignment is just fine (I drove this morning on a straight, flat road and it tracked perfectly straight). Any ideas why my car has aspirations to be a kite?

Default How much faster than the other cars were you going. The effects of a cross wind (especially gusts)

are magnified by speed.

Default soft suspension. I felt my B5 was downright dangerous on gusty highways until

I put bilsteins and eibachs on.

Default Hadn't thought of that -- good call

But I don't think its in my immediate future. I can wrestle with it for now.

How much did your suspension upgrade end up costing?

I bought the springs and shocks from an AW'er for $450, plus about $300 install+alignment
