window grindage

window grindage

Last night when i got home I was putting my window up and it went about half way and went back down. So I held it up and on the way up it got some grinding/scraping noise and seemed like it was binding up on something. Any ideas on what to look at when I pull the door panel off?

clean the track first.

I just use plain water to wipe the crevises.

If that does not help, I would then rip the door apart.

the sound is coming from behind the door panel.

Look for a broken plastic clip at the bottom of the window.

Part of the window regulator mechanism. Common (somewhat) failure. I don't think Audi sells the clip, so you might be looking at a new window regulator ($$).
