Window Regulator Wire
The wire that runs throughout the window regulator has become derailed and I cannot get it back on for anything in the world. By wire I'm refering to the wire that hooks to the plastic clips that hook to the window and then goes around some pulleys into the power window controller. I am in the process of repairing the window clips that broke (another story) and the wire derails. I can't seem to stretch it far enough to put it around the last pulley. I've tried everything. If you've installed a window regulator and know what I'm talking about .. or just know what I'm talking about ... how do I get the wire back on??

it's impossible...
the wire runs into the actual regulator as well...it's probably screwed up in there as well.. I've tried as well..
You're best bet is to just get a new regulator...if you get it installed yourself, shoot me an email!

It seems like some wire is lost inside of the regulator motor like you saying. Is there anyway to recapture it? Seems like it may be twisted or something inside of the motor. I hate to have to buy and entire regulator just for this one thing!

You're faced with a problem not new to A4 regulators. Actually, the Audi regulator has been a PITA for about 20 years. Now, they have added the green window guides on the A4's which break, and can't be bought separately - no kit; no piece parts. Just as Mat and Skylinedc have said, your best bet is to get the replacement regulator. When the cable binds or frays, there is no fix. If the plastic guide breaks, usually at the top tang, it's reparable; if you can get the guide. If you go with the new regulator, take the guides off the old one, and keep them. There's two on each front door, front and rear guide, they are are interchangeable, and work on either front door. Save them. I now have a handfull, and visit the local salvage yard to get them as I can. When you buy the regulator, the motor comes separately, so you can reuse the one you have. Expect to pay anywhere from $125 to $175.
