Default Windows XP memory problem...

Last night I finished downloading this program I am trying to install. It is a 615 meg exe file. It is mostlikly a self uncompressing file. When I execute the file, it opens a command window and then says "Program too big to fit in memory". How can I get around this?

Default Either buy more memory (duh) or try increasing size of paging memory

(aka swap file).

To do so Right click on My Computer, Select Properties, Advanced tab, Performance Settings button, Advanced tab, Virtual memory Change button.

See what the settings are like. Depending on the size of your hard drive, you may want to set the intitial size to something like 768 MB and the Maximum size to 1536. (that's what I have and I don't have any memory problems - OTOH I have 512 MB of RAM).

Default duplicated your settings and...

still nothing. I'm running a P3 700 with 396 megs of RAM. It is trying to open in DOS. Do you think the file may be corrupted?
