Default Windshield replacement experience

I posted a few weeks ago about my cracked windshield and I had it replaced today.

After STFA I decided to go with PPG glass and the Audi OEM molding. I called a bunch of places in the northern NJ area and ended up using American Mobile Glass. They came right to my work today and the guys were top notch. Turns out the original windshield had already been replaced once (I bought the car used so I didn't know) and whoever replaced it did a really sloppy job.

The two guys that worked on it today explained what they were doing every step of the way. I have to let it sit for 3 hours and then keep a window open a tiny bit for 24 hours. They said if you don't leave a window open, when you shut the door, the pressure is too much for the new seal to handle and it can cause a pin hole to form.

So American Mobile Glass is highly recommended in the NYC metro area. Total cost $257 plus tax and I gave the guys a nice tip as well.

read your policy. not all cover it. with some, you must pay extra for the coverage.

Default I don't have auto glass coverage on my NJ Allstate policy...

Didn't have it when I had State Farm either. Never really thought about it before this. I may call my agent and see what the damage will be to add it to my policy.

Can't really complain though- $750 a year for full coverage in NJ.

No kidding! Some places charge that much for labor alone.
