Windshield replacement question....

I just called my local auto glass store and they told me that they would replace the windshield with the glass made by Pinkerton (I thought they were strictly a security company?). Anyway, anyone know if this is good quality glass or not? It has a green tint with green shade at top or Green tint with grey shade at top (my options).

If I go with them, they pay my deductible, but if I go with the recommended installer that uses the OEM Audi windshield then I don't get it paid for.

To be honest, I don't care about paying the deductible, but if the Pinkerton glass is good quality stuff, then I would just use it and save $50.

Also, the auto glass store can do it by tomorrow and the other place will need about a week before they can install.

Neverheard of Pinkerton. I had PPG when I replaced my OEM.

Did the dealership order the glass or did the glass replacement company order it?

I don't know if this helps you any...

I had my windshield replaced with a non OEM. I don't know who the maker is, I'll take a look later and let you know. I paid something like $290 for it and it's okay. It's tinted a little less than the OEM (I prefer less tint). and it's got the green anti-glare stripe, but compared to the original window, I do see a little more distortion in the glass, especially in the corners.

Replacement glass company had it in stock already.

But I asked specifically for PPG glass also.

Actually it's Pilkington, and that's the factory manufacturer.

I have broken two windshields and have chosen to go with the PPG. PPG, is exactly the same windshield, for less money. Try and find one if you don't care about you windows all saying Pilkington.
