Windshield Ripple Problems
I purchased my A4 back in March and noticed that the windshield had a ripple in it on the right side. I took it into the dealership and the service manager said that he would order another one and have it replaced. He told me that when the new windshield comes in I would have to go to the dealership, and they would hold it up for me. If it meets my approval, they will then replace it. That was almost a month ago.
Here are my concerns. Every windshield is going to be rippled. It's just a matter of if it will cause distortion, and that will not be noticeable until it is actaully installed.
Secondly, I don't know that I want them replacing it and breaking the factory seal. Has anyone had any problems with the seals after having their windshield replaced? Either leaking in rainy weather, wind noise, or the thing sliding?
Any advice??

I wouldnt worry about the seal, on my old A4 I borke the windshield and got it fixed and still hasnt leaked and its been 2 years. I live upstate NY and so it gets a good deal of temp cycling and its held up great. I'm about to turn the car in and you cant tell the difference between my 2000 and the 97. i wouldnt worry about it

I'm dealing with the same dilema up here in Toronto. Post a follow up once it's been done if you think of it.
The distortion in my windshield is bad enough that I'm willing to risk damage to the dash and A-pillar trim to get it replaced.
In Canada (at least with Queensway VW/Audi) glass replacement needs to be approved by the Audi service rep. What a pain!

Common problem on MY00. My rear window has a ripple, but I'm willing to live with it...
but if it wasw my front, where I look all the time, it would bug me a lot more. I'd probably replace a front windshield.
That being said, I am going to discuss it with the service guys when I'm in for my first service...<p>'00 1.8TQS Tip, no mods (yet...)
