Default 03 A4 transfer case leaking

I have a 2003 A4 1.8T and I just noticed today that the transfer case is leaking small amounts of oil. Like maybe a drop or two a day. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is serious enough tha I should take it to the shop to have looked at? Or is only leaking such a small amount normal? The car only has 20,000 miles...

Are you sure it is from the transfer case? Oil has a way of migrating. I have drips of oil on the bottom of my transfer case that I believe are migrating from the rear of the valve cover gasket or rear cam oil seal. I would eliminate the easy stuff before going after an expensive transfer case. Urgency? Depends on how big the drip area under your car is.

The drip is very small, today there was 2 small drips underneath the car. I am sure its coming from the transfer case, I got up underneath the car and can see exactly where its coming from.

Do either of these look like your leak?

But that is the correct area?

The rear driveshaft seal on my 2002 A4 transmission started leaking almost a year ago. No drops on the garage floor, but there were always a couple of drops on the bottom of the housing at the back end of the transmission. While a few drops on the garage floor isn't very much, it's highly likely that a lot more oil is lost on the road, while driving. I would not ignore this too long, because running low on transmission oil is a very expensive proposition. You might want to check the transmission oil level before too long.

FWIW, it took Speedway Motors, an Audi dealer in Victoria, BC, three tries over the space of 9 months to finally (I hope) stop the leak in my car's transmission. I'm not sure what went wrong with the repairs, but I'm glad that all the repeat repairs were covered under Audi's one year repair warranty.

Picture of said leak, it looks minor enough to not be worried about right now unless it gets bigger. What's everyone else think?

Is this a real close up of the half shaft? Does it puddle under the car? If so, that looks like a pretty minor leak. I wouldn't touch it.

Yes, I believe that is the half shaft. It is just to the right of the transfer case. It doesn't necessarily "puddle" under the car, over the course of about 2 weeks there was 2 quarter size spots underneath the car.
