3.0 Premium Package - Hate the multi-function wheel
I'm really considering ordering my car -- 3.0 6sp sport premium cold but the multi-function steering wheel pisses me off.
Anybody know if you can order it without?

I have it and had the same concerns...
But when you get used to the convenience of controlling the radio and CD player... you wouldn't want ot be without it. It does have a nice feel to it. My B5 had the sport wheel, and now 1200 miles into my 3.0, and I'm glad I have it over the 3 spoke.
Plus.. remember with that Premium package... you do get a lot of other good stuff, like the premium leather (which is thicker and has a nice flat finish to it), auto-leveling xenons, homelink... and oh yeah, can't forget the trick power folding mirrors.

Don't forget the memory seats and auto dimming mirrors.....
I am very pleased with the multi function steering wheel plus all the other goodies on the 3.0 premium package. It is a personal thing but I would think most would welcome the new steering wheel.

Of course I have not had the time to figure out these gadgets (no, I have not cracked the manual)... I still have not programmed my homelink or Seats.
I need to program in my 'emergency lowrider' settings. Instantly switching from driving to big pimpin in the blink of an eye.

BTW, question for you Rich...
About a year ago, we spoke and you put me in contact with Ben Liaw about doing a short shift kit for the 3.0. I did the test measurements with him and then we fell out of contact. Any word if that's still going to happen?

Hey, I would love to switch you my 3 spoke wheel
If you were
A) in Jersey or PA
and
B) having the switch done wouldn't cost us too much
and
C) I could be guaranteed that the multifunction buttons would work with my car
Under those conditions maybe we could work something out.
