Allignment Problem

I just returned from Sears telling me they can't do an allignment because the front left camber is off. Much to my disapointment they said I need to bring the car to a dealership to take care of this. A little while back I replaced an upper control arm on that side and had to beat the **** out of the bolt that holds the two arms in place. This might have contributed to the problem.

My question to you all is do I NEED to take it to a dealer or does anyone else know of a shop in the Westchester county, NY area to take it to? Can a bad suspension part be the cause of this too? I feel the fron end being a little loose over bumbs. I suspect it to be the tie rod ends. Any help will be appreciated.

ask regional ny/nj/ct forum for local shop help

also be very **** about your alignments. if sears recommends it take their advice. its much better than having them send you on your merry way and not even touching the camber. grrr i need to visit my tuning shop soon because my rear camber is messed up. audi service didn't even both to touch the camber at all... they think i'm stupid. its very obvious to tell whether a wrnech has touched a bolt.

I had a serious camber difference in the front from left (-1.4 degree vs +1.2) to right and when it was all taken apart to put in Koni sports, it ended up back at -1.2/-1.1 degrees. It is possible the pounding jarred something out of spec. A good suspension or modder could loosen it all and get it back if nothing is bent. I learned from bad experience it is not something for Sears or Firestone shops.
