Default Check Engine Light
So...today when I was driving my car to work, my check engine light came on. The time for service is coming up because it says I have 0 miles and 4 days left. Does this just mean that I need to take my car in for an oil change? What else could it be? PLEASE HELP~!

Default CEL means something to do with the emissions system. Get the code checked out to see
what is triggering it.

and while you're at it, start doing 5K oil changes and not follow the stupid service interval thingy

Default MIL means something wrong, doesn't have to be emissions related
techincally it can be turned on for a problem in any module as a MIL call up fault... usually just transmission but other modules can do it also.

Default He said check engine light not MIL illuminated. AFAIK, in the US check engine means something
emissions related.

Default My guess is yes because that's how mine came from factory =P
Unless dealer reprogrammed when they got the car in but it's been set to 5k intervals since day 1.

true, transmission fault can affect emmissions, flashing means possible damage to cat
