Check Engine Light Question

Turned my 2005 1.8T on Monday evening and the car idled rough for about 15 seconds and the check engine light remained on. Car runs fine with no apparent problems but the light is still on. Called the dealer and he said it might have been a result of poor quality gas. He said it should reset after a certain number of cycles and if not bring it in and they will check the codes and reset it. This happend once before two years ago while the car was under warranty and the code noted a misfire.

Anyone know how long it will take for the light to reset? Again the car runs great with no problems. Don't feel like paying for service if this will resolve itself. I searched the forum but didn't find this specific problem.
