Chips
I have a 2002 1.8t and am looking to enhance the performance a bit(nothing major). I have no idea what I am doing, but was looking on ebay and saw that they have chips for around 40 bucks and there is no soldering required. Does anyone know if these things actually work enough to see a difference? Thanks

For some vehicles it works, but it's not a "chip"...
from what I understand, all they are doing is modifying the MAF sensor input into the ECU to trick it into dumping more fuel into the cylinders (it thinks there is more air flow), thus giving you some HP increase.
One of the drawbacks is that you can create a situation in which you have unburned fuel in the cylinders. Also, once the O2 sensors see you running rich, your ECU will dial back the fuel.
