Default Re: CVT Performance

I went from an S4 6 speed to the cvt, I am really sold on it. Its performance is excellent and once you get the hang of it you can really hustle down the road with it. Power is always there and is very smooth.

Default it is, and it's equal, or faster than a manual

Why? Simple, it has an infinite ratio of "gears" which means it can ALWAYS be at optimum power. Now remove the fact that there is not a traditional torq coverter to loose power like in a traditional auto/tiptronic. I think it has some kind of liquid clutch or some jobby. Not sure.

But the CVT is essentially the next level in transmission evolution. It just needs to progress to handle more torq.

Agreed. However I know of A4's in Europe with 50, 60K and no CVT issues.

I just wonder if it can handle increased torque of turbo upgrades and such. 2nd generation maybe.

Default That is the big question, AUJ. We know Audi engineered some fudge factor in for reliability but how

much and who is willing to take the chance to figure it out?
