Default Did a bit of rear suspension work over the weekend...

I've been running my Koni/Neuspeed Sport for a while now, and the rear of my car has always been sitting uncharacteristically low at around 24-3/4" ground to fender:
<img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/akula-ssh/img_4059.jpg">

Since it's actually low enough that I rub the liner every now and then, I decided I have to do something about it. Short of buying a set of coilovers, which I might well do in the future, I thought I'd experiment a little, and made myself a couple "spacers" at a mech shop...
<img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/akula-ssh/img_3966.jpg">
<img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/akula-ssh/img_3968.jpg">

The stainless steel spacers were dimensioned to sit in between the car and the upper spring seat (which is the rubber piece). Since I know I've been sitting on the bumpstops, I had to take a guess as to how thick to make the spacer. Lucky for me, the 2cm (about 3/4") I decided upon worked perfectly and brought my car up to 25" ground to fender now...

O, and did I say the handling has improved? As well, the rear suspension now soaks up bumps better than when I was sitting on the stops?

Default That's a one fine piece of custom work and very ingenious:)...

One question though; In your pic, you have the rubber base sitting on your custom spacer...
But doesn't the spacer actually fit/sit upside down as you've shown it?
What I mean, spacer female pocket on male coil arm nub, then rubber base female pocket on custom spacer male nub?

Eddie Man,
Just lookin at your pictures of the rear spring and shock and notice you can't adjust them for height like you can the front coilover, is this the norm, I thought coilovers came the same all round like your front ones and if any height adjustment is required you have to use a spanner?
Thanks.

Default Yes & no...

Rears are indeed adjustable...
In this pic, the gray circular pieces in the box are the spring base purches (they take the place of the OEM rubber bases) and they have height adjustable collars by spinning the collared thread to the desired height.
<img src="http://images.snapfish.com/3437273923232%7Ffp47%3Dot%3E232%3C%3D649%3D54%3A%3 DXROQDF%3E2323838%3A2%3C5%3B2ot1lsi">

The suspension design of the B6s are considerably different when it comes to the spring/damper setup...
Some other cars, they are similar where both front &amp; back concentric spring/damper setups can be used.
For example, Miata's Spring/Damper Configuration:
<img src="http://www.hrsprings.com/site/products/coilovers/photos/01.jpg">

One thing however that is a detriment IMO, is that the range of adjustablility is much larger for the fronts as it is for the rears...
Rears is approx. +/- 0.75"
Fronts is approx. +/- 2".

But anyways, that's a minor point in that the 2" range is really not useable.
