What angle are they at? If at 45 degrees, it is the cross hatching of the cylinder wall during the final hone. This increases the cylinders ability to hold oil as the piston rings sweep up and down and help lubrication.
If they are vertical then there is scoring in your cylinder. If horizontal, that would be very odd to have that.
