Engine problem - misfiring?
I just tried driving my 02 A4 1.8T and it's having some engine problems. It started up ok but when I tried to drive away the engine started to shake really hard and didn't have any power. It also started making some funny noises. Then the check engine light started flashing. I shut it off and restarted it and tried to drive it some more but it continued to run very rough and have trouble. So I turned around and came back home.
I think it may be misfiring but I am not sure I should drive it with it running like that. I am waiting for the dealer to call me back right now.
Any ideas on what could be wrong? This will be the second major thing that has gone wrong that has required a tow to the dealer.
