Default Hola, and a question...

Searched and read through many pages of postings. Couldn't find an answer to my question.

Bought a 2003 1.8T Quattro a few months ago. It's an auto (my daily driver). Problem is, when I step on the gas to accelerate from a dead stop, the thing takes forever to get up to about 3,000 RPMs. Of course, once the turbo kicks in I accelerate just fine. The standing start performance makes driving the car in stop-and-go traffice pretty much unbearable.

Is this a problem with my car (just had the 40,000 service), or are they all like this? If the latter, will chipping it help?

Cheers,
jason

The 3.0 is slow, the 1.8T is even slower (in stock form)

Default Understood. Am I wrong to expect the car to actually go at all until the turbo kicks in?

Making a quick left turn with oncoming traffic is basically a deathwish.

Default Audi is heavy. Auto + Quattro will make it heavier. 1.8T is not much help.

You either get used to it and pray every time you attempt the merge into traffic or you can chip to increase torque at the low end.
