Horn Problems?!?!

Well, I don't even have 2000 miles on the 2002 A4 1.8TQMS. It is a fabulous car. But I have experienced one problem. My horn unit is bad.

I took it into the dealer and after they had looked it over they ordered and entirely new horn unit for the car. It is dissapointing to have a problem so soon after buying a new car. I am not dis-heartened yet, I just did not like the Passat they gave me to drive while the shop had my car. :^)

Anyone having similar problems?

I have same problem, horn used to be loud, now it is wimpy

About 50% of the low-tone horns are failing in the first few months

Mine is on order, and the dealer says he is going to stockpile them.

Is the replacement a redesign though, or will it fail too?

Any repeat failures here?

where did you get that statistic?

We've only replaced one out of all the A4's we've sold so far, by your stat we should have done about 25.

You don't know it's bad 'till you have occasion to use it. Call your 50 A4 buyers and ask them to

check their horns. I have no idea how long mine was bad. I discovered it when someone was starting to back into me. The person did stop but probably because they wondered what that cute little 'tooting' sound was behind them. The dealer is scheduled to repair it next week but in the meantime I try not to use it (people tend to look around in an attempt to identify the wimpy car that made that sound).
