Labor on ebrake cable replacement

I'm out of warranty and had my ebrake seize up (common problem I see). I went in for my 60K mile service (Bernardi - Natick MA) and to have the ebrake fixed and wound up paying for 4.5 hrs of labor on the ebrake cable replacement alone! Add that to the 4.5 hrs for the 60K service and my credit card is still smoking!

Any comments on how long the cable replacement should take?

IIRC Bentley shows....

that the entire interior center console has to come out and I'm certain that heat sheilding and other bits need to be removed from under the car as well just to gain access to the cables. Let's put it this way - I wouldn't like to attempt this job in my garage.
