Need some Help With an Engine problem

Default Need some Help With an Engine problem

I have a 1.8T B6 quattro. I just bought the car like with a blown engine so we rebuilt engine but here is where the problem starts. We started the car and it ran perfect but when we took it for a spin in first and second gear there was no boost problem but half way in third (after about 10 secinds) it would loose boost and it sounded like it was trying to boost like this thread https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...ost+problem+b6
but the oil warning light comes on the exact same time i loose boost. Also if you drive the car without the letting the turbo to kick in the oil warning does not come on. (I believe they are linked) and aswell we just figured out that the cam chain tensioner needs to be changed because it sounds exactly like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toO2nP9UjDk


Is there anyway that all these are linked I have no clue whatto do. I am going to change the cam cahin tensioner but will this solve the boost problem

Sound like they are oil pressure related. If the engine failure was due to sludge, did you check the oil pump? Did you look at the oil pickup inside the oil pan?

I personally didnt check the oil pan but we did change the oil pump and this was still happening?????. I now have got the cam chain tensioner and i will have it in the next two days but i dont no if this will solve the problem and im also going to clean all the oil lines just in case

If the pickup screen that is in the oil pan is clogged, you will not get the proper pressure. Pictures of a before and after.

Ya i asked the other lad when he was changed the oil pump did he clean this and he said he did, so it cant be this. I also changed the cam chain tensioner and now no more oil warning light and no ticking sound so now im just left with the boost problem but i believe it is electrics because if you turn off the car while driving and turn back on its like you reset something because you get boost for a few seconds (like 5 seconds) then to day i was told about an altitude reader at the front of the car near the rad. Or was he talking sh*t. any one know bout these and how they work ??

Is this car chipped or have a k04 turbo? Did you replace the N75 valve or recirculating valve? Do you have a boost gauge? It would be good to know what the boost is at right before limp mode. How was the motor "blown"? Timing belt?

Recheck all of your electrical connections including MAF, CPS, CTS, MAP.

You definately would want to check that the MAP is plugged in correctly, as that would be how your ECM would gauge boost.

Assuming that your oil pressure is good now I would be inclined to suggest you need a new N75 valve.

Ideally, you would do a scan of the car and check for stored codes. It sounds like something is triggering limp mode. If that is the case a vagcom scan would tell you what.
