Default Oil problem... maybe?

Okay i had a long haul last night from Fort Dix in New Jersey up to Westchester NY with a engine light on, and the oil light on. I didn't go above 65mph and the car drove fine. No vibrating or tapping and the oil level was ok. Odd?
The oil light only comes on after 15 or 20min of driving but the engine light is steady. No loss of power or anything? Anyone have an idea, i know its odd. I have a VAG-COM and see if i can pull anything later.

I know probably risky driving like that, but the car seems ok... again i didnt push it. Thanx.

Default Oil pressure or oil level light, consult owners manual, there is a huge difference.

If it is your oil pressure light then you now need a new engine/turbo. If it is the oil level light and the level is good, then check the wiring to the sensor on the bottom of the oil pan. If the wiring is good then replace the sensor with your next oil change.

Default Pbly not. By the time the filter plugs the engine is toast.

I would try checking out the pressure sender.
If you don't have valve train tapping sounds and oil is filled, and sludge is not an issue that leaves electrics.

My 2 cents.

Default Its the oil lamp that pops up...

The oil lamp pops up, and i hear the turbo whine up when i try pushing it.
I'm currently at 65k miles and had my last oil change at 59k and they used Synthetic... I only remember this cause I asked about Oil Sludge issues and he re assured me they use synthetic.

I'll check the sensor and see if i can scan it. Thanx guys!

Default Pressure Sender??

Out of curiosity how do you check the pressure sender? Is this something simple or something that a shop or stealership should do? Thanx.

Default How many miles? Who changes the oil? What brand & weight of oil/filter?

At what interval do you change oil? 5000? 10,000?

Default Dealership changed Oil...

02 A4 1.8tqm

Currently at 65k miles, and had the last oil change & 60k maintenance done at the dealership at 59k. Previous to that all dealership, but different owner.

According to the dealership when i spoke to them at 59k miles they said it was Synthetic but nothing mentioned of brand of any sort. Thanx.

Default It's one of those "If you have to ask" situations, you should have the work done for you. ...

Either an indy Audi shop, or the dealer.

Default Black plastic Oil press switch located on the right side above the oil cooler...

(above where the oil filter screws in)
Switch will change from open circuit (Eng not running)
To closed circuit (below 50 ohmns or so)with eng idling.
(check using volt/ohmn meter with wire disconnected.)
