Default Performance

I have just recently purchased an Audi A4 1.8T Quatrro B6 2002 model and was wondering if it's normal that the car has lag? What happens is when the car is in second gear and u press the accelerator more and more the car cuts back a bit and goes, cuts back a bit and goes. Is this normal?

Default don't confuse choaking with lag (turbo-lag)

what you are describing is not turbo lag. you may have something wrong. It does not sound like a big ticket item, but it could be the MAF or coil pack.

You should change the oil, plugs and air filter before you do any thing else.

Default It could be as simple as a bad batch of fuel. Your plugs or CP's might need to be replaced

If you can find someone local with a VAG-Com running some logs would be beneficial. If you have the previous owners maintance records, when were the plugs last changed? Also what version CP's are installed. How many miles on the car?

It might be worth running a fuel injector cleaner thru. Running the BG44k has been benefical in keeping my injectors running clean and smooth.

Default plugged fuel filter poss? If it's the coil pack(s) won't you get a flashing cel?

or at least a misfire code.

Default not if the cp is dying. you won't get the CEL till it dead.

some folks expereince what feels like 'missing' when they have a cp on the way out or when a cp harness (electrical conector) is dirty or corroded.

Default I also run APR 2+ and have had cp's give intermittant issues....

which to me means that eventually one is going to die. I don't think that they just completely die without warning. It seems like every cp I have lost (8 so far) has given me warning signs before it's completely fried. Usually under sustainable load I can get a flashing cel just before the cp gives out but still run without a flashing cel if I baby the car- but not for long. I can also get a faint skip and let off (no cel) and read a misfire code. I think this guy should defiantly vag com to see if he's getting any codes and throw a couple of spare cp's in the trunk right next to the spare!

Default Which CP's are you running? I am thinking of trying those bolt down hitachi's if these R's die.

also which plugs are you running? Just curious.

Default Same here with the R's with spec Bosch Platinums....

I was using the BK6RE's like some on here but got tired of buying plugs every 5K. Besides, I haven't read anywhere that I shouldn't be using o.e.spec plugs, have you?

Default I'm on the Bosch F5DP0R's. Double plat from the old UrS4's.

They are non-adjustable gap and are 1 heat range cooler than stock. Our tuner here recommends these to all of us that are running K04's. Are you K04? You sig still says 1+.

Default not ko4 but that raises a question..

I never referred to my car as a 2+ until the guy at APR told me recently (when I called to inquire about III+)that 1+ with exhaust and c.a.i. made it a 2+. Are you saying ko4 is what it takes to get you to 2+? So you are running APR's ko4 program then. I heard that was pretty smooth compared to what I have.
