Default please help!

I'm new to the a4 just got mine last week i want to upgrade to HID and i'm getting a ddm kit.
i started tearing apart the front of the car today and realized these are not any ordinary head lights (my last car was a tiburon doesn't get much simpler than that) anyways do you have to take the front bumper off to get the headlights off? and how do i know if i got stock hid or xenon lights? just trying to figure out right bulb size i know it is either a h7 or ds1 or ds2 from what i have read. i'm going to keep searching sorry for the noob question but i can't find for sure answers thanks

you don't have to take off your front bumper to get your headlight out. there is a hidden screw, on the right side( when you facing the car) i think it's hidden between the headlight and the power steering reservoir but on the left one i can't exactly tell you where. I used to watch my mechanic whenever replacing a burnt bulb, as one time i was in your shoes. also if I wasn't helpful, there's a much bigger forum for A4 called Audizine. there you will find what you want.

they are h7 size bulbs and each headlight has 4 screws. 2 on top and one on right behind the headlight in front of the power steering stuff and on the left hand size. if you follow the back side of the headlight assembly you will see the screws on left and right side. be careful not to force the headlight out once you've loosened the screws, the headlights have a rubber trim piece underneath that will catch the bumper. you will know if you have xenon bulbs if you look at your headlight housing and remove the cover plate, if you dont see a giant square box behind the bulb(D1S) then its halogen bulbs.
