Default Question on coilover spring compression...

When I installed my KWV2 coilovers I noticed there was a full inch (or more) difference between the perch height on the driver's and passenger's sides in order to get the wheel gap the same for each wheel. On further inspection this weekend I noticed that the driver's side spring is completely compressed near the top while the passenger side has small gaps the between the coils. Would it not make sense for each spring to compress the same, or are there differences in weight between the left and right hand side of the car? If not, I'm of the opinion that the driver's side front spring is weaker than the passenger side spring.

Thoughts, comments?

Default Perches should be in the same place on either side.

Sounds like one of the springs is defective. Replace the front springs as a pair.

Default both of my top 3 coils touch

Interesting that one of yours doesn't touch. I've been harping KW to give me an answer if the spring binding is causing my suspension sounds. They haven't gotten back to me on that.

My perches are set exactly the same height and with recent measurements, the only variance from left and right height is less than 0.5" which could be anything (ground may not be totally level).

Default "tender" coils...they keep tension on the spring during full droop so it doesn't pop out.

Since the spring is shorter than stock, but the suspension still has the same downward travel they have to do something to keep tension on the spring when it's fully extended.

Default Corner balance? You shouldn't have that much difference between sides.

But then, my rears are off by about 1/4" to get everything evened out and balanced.

Default turn the steering wheel to full left or right, and a few tricks/tips

Park the car facing sun light, and pop the hood open to allow light down from the top through any spaces.

If your camera supports it, set it to close shooting focus. Position your camera lens so that it picks up no light reflecting off the car body. This extra light will confuse the light metering capabilities of the camera.

If there is not enough light, place some aluminum foil on the ground underneath the area you're shooting; shiny side up. The aluminum will diffuse light up to give more ambient light and to lessen shadows.
